More about our guest speakers
Amber Sharp is the Executive Director at The Haven, one of New Day for Children's partner organizations, located near Houston, TX. Amber received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a non-profit management emphasis from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Amber, and her husband of 13 years, spent many years as foster parents and have adopted their 4 children who range in age from 5-13. Amber was recently featured in Victory Magazine as one of "The Most Influential Women Leaders to Watch in 2024." She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and is a firm believer that Chik-fil-a, sweet tea, and chocolate chip cookies are God’s personal gifts to her.
When asked "What New Day for Children has meant to The Haven," Amber responded with: The Haven would literally not be able to do this work today if it were not for the support of New Day for Children. When we opened our doors in 2020, we had very little financial or emotional support. There were not many partners that we knew in this fight and sometimes the battlefield is lonely, discouraging, and overwhelming. God brought New Day for Children into our lives just as our arms were getting too weak to hold up on our own. New Day brought the encouragement and support that we needed to keep going. They have financially supported many of the girls that we have had the pleasure of serving, most notably "Margaret" who spent 17 months with us. We saw such an amazing transformation while "Maragaret" was in our care and I am so excited that she will be joining me at the Night of Hope event. I promise you won't want to miss the impact that she will have on you when she takes the stage!"
“Margaret”'s story is a beautiful testament to resilience and the transformative power of long-term restorative care in overcoming trauma.
Despite enduring abuse through trafficking at a young age, her 17-month journey at The Haven and subsequent reunion with her family underscore the life-changing impact of dedicated care and trauma-informed therapy.
During her time at The Haven, “Margaret” made a significant and lasting impression on everyone she encountered with her lively personality, boundless energy, sharp intellect, and radiant smile. Upon graduating from The Haven, she successfully reunited with her family and has been thriving academically while smoothly transitioning to her new public school.
Margaret is excited to fulfill a dream by sharing an inspiring message of encouragement at Night of Hope. Her journey reminds us of the profound difference your donations and compassionate support can make in a young person's life, affirming that every child deserves a childhood.
